Grief and loss are normal and expected parts of the human experience, yet we live in a culture that frequently dismisses, pathologizes or minimizes grief. This can lead to an experience of feeling isolated or alone as you traverse this journey. In this wisdom talk we will explore different types of grief and loss, the importance of community and ritual when processing grief and how grief and loss affect the body, mind and spirit. This 90-minute wisdom talk will be interactive with opportunities for a short meditation, journaling and optional group sharing.
Shandra Bauer draws on her personal journey of grief and loss and her experience as a Certified Mindful Grieving Facilitator through the Center for Somatic Grieving to offer a welcoming and accepting space to explore this topic. She facilitates in person and virtual Mindful Grieving Yoga Therapy Programs, which offers individuals an opportunity to explore connection and community while grieving.
No meditation or yoga experience necessary to attend. We will address grief and loss of all kinds. Participation in the group sharing is optional. Dress in comfortable clothing and please bring something to use for the writing exercise.
